Up Front AM: Constantine, Inslee with Monday announcements

First take on the day’s political news from the Up Front team.

Infamous computer project finally over:  King County Executive Dow Constantine gives his State of the County speech this morning in Bellevue.  Among his announcements:  The county has finally finished a 15-year computer project.  The notorious project, started in the late 90s, was to merge the county’s massive accounting and payroll systems.  Under Constantine’s predecessor, the project failed after more than $40 million dollars.  With a new team, Constantine says the project is finally done.

Inslee kicks campaign into gear:  It’s his first big policy announcement this morning—Gubernatorial candidate Jay Inslee talks jobs in Spokane, then Seattle at noon.

On to the caucus states:  Just a month until Washington’s Republican presidential caucus on March 3rd.  NBC’s First Read looks at the other caucus states before us.

Tweet of the day:  Newt Gingrich still needling Romney—Tweets @newtgingrich: Not worried about the poor b/c they have a safety net? We can’t afford another food stamp president.
